Oes Tsetnoc Directory Submissions

So I've been submitting this Oes Tsetnoc blog to directories, hoping it would help me rank better in terms of backlinks but it has done next to nothing.

I've been seeing some changes in my SERPs recently though. I don't know if it has to do with the directory submissions I've been doing or if it has everything to do with all the fresh and unique content I've been updating this blog with.

Either way, I'm happy to finally be out of my slump and see this change. I just hope it keeps up.

I've tried buying directory submissions and using software to submit my site to directories for the Oes Tsetnoc, but I don't see any changes unless I submit to directories manually and doing that is extremely time consuming.

I'm going to be doing more directory submitting during the next couple of weeks though. I could very well continue to climb the SERPs if I continue to update this Oes Tsetnoc blog with fresh and unique content and continue to submit to relevant directories.

I've done everything else I can...

SEO Is a Waste of Time

So this was brought up on another forum that I'm a member of. Someone said they had a long debate on whether or not SEO was a waste of time or not. Have you ever thought this? Do you think that SEO is a waste of time and unnecessary?

I don't think it's unnecessary. In fact, I think the exact opposite of it. What would a website do without SEO? Where would your site be without SEO?

Your website is in search engines because it has been optimized. The last thing it is is a waste of time.

Think of all the times you've used Google [or whatever search engine you usually use]. The keyword you search for brings up thousands upon thousands of websites. These websites are appearing in the results page because they were all optimized.

Optimizing your website for the search engines are a big part of running a website. How else is your website supposed to get noticed by the right audience? You do NOT want just a bunch of traffic going to your site.

If your site is on computers but it's appearing in the search results page for the term "furniture", what good does that do you? The traffic coming into your site from searching for that term is completely irrelevant and these visitors will not help you gain revenue, not to mention your bounce rate will be REALLY high.

In short, I think SEO is absolutely necessary. How about you?

Choosing Your Keywords

A lot of people have a hard time figuring out what keywords to optimize their sites for. This problem arises mostly with people new to building and marketing websites, or people new to SEO (search engine optimization).

One common mistake that people make is they make their keyword the same as their domain name and their site is optimized for that. This is not smart at all.

What you need to ask yourself when figuring out what keywords to use is, "What will people be searching for?". A lot of people who have domain.com will promote their site as "domain.com" or "Domain".

First thing's first, remove the .com. Next thing to do is go to Google Trends and see what people are searching for. This is completely optional but it helps in getting traffic to your site. When you go to Google Trends, find the search term that best fits your site and optimize for that term or a similar term.

If you have a site on flowers and you see the term "flower site" in Google Trends, optimize for it.

Get .edu and .gov Backlinks

.edu and .gov backlinks are always a plus for websites. These links are often hard to come by and search engines see these as top qualiy backlinks.

I'm going to show you a little tip to acquiring these .edu and .giv backlinks. The best part is, they will be relevant to your site. Although you can get .edu and .giv backlinks on any niche.

All you need is to go to Google.com or any of your favourite search engines. Now just put the following query into the search form:

for .edu links

site:.edu in url:blog “comment” -”you must be logged in” -”posting closed” -”comment closed” “keyword”

for .gov links

site:.gov in url:blog “comment” -”you must be logged in” -”posting closed” -”comment closed” “keyword”

SERP Difference in .com and .net Domains

A lot of people have asked this question many times. "Does a .com domain do better in the search engines than a .net domain, or any other extension?"

Don't worry if you didn't get the .com domain of your choice and you had to settle for another extension. Don't worry if you thought you're going to have to do extra work to rank better than the .com version of your domain name. No matter what you've read, there is no difference.

All extensions are ranked in Google [and other search engines] and all extensions are a part of the search engine's algorithm.

A domain's extension will not penalize you in search engine ranks.

With all of that being said, I'm really glad. Now I don't have to worry about having to do extra work for the Oes Tsetnoc.

How To Build Backlinks

People often ask a lot of questions about backlinks, mainly how to acquire them. I’m going to give you a few tips to help you build some quality backlinks. The number one rule with building your backlinks is “quality over quantity”. Google [as well as other search engines] will pay more attention and give a better rank in the search engines to sites that have relevant backlinks rather than a site with just a bunch of random backlinks.

When building your backlinks, do it slowly. Don’t get too much at one time. Robots/Spiders can see it as spam and block your site, maybe even ban it.

Although there are a lot of people out there offering and looking for software that will automatically build backlinks, do not sink to this level. Get them naturally. This adds to the quality and search engines will recognize that.

You should always have a strategy when building backlinks. One strategy you can use it to see where your competitors are getting their backlinks from and see if you can get them on those sites as well.

Also, create a strategy within your site to have your visitors want to link to you.

Try to avoid doing link exchanges. Google frowns upon it and more than often the sites who do too many of these exchanges can and will be banned from the search engines.

There are a lot of things to do and avoid when trying to build backlinks for your site, but the above are the basics and will help you.

Always remember to get quality links which are relevant to your site. And always remember to build your links slowly. Don’t go overboard, though a lot of the time we tend to do that.

Just remember building backlinks take time, as with anything else.

Oes Tsetnoc Sandboxed?

I don't think so. What is sandbox? It's pretty much just the time period that competitive keywords must wait in order to achieve results on Google.

Even if "oes tsetnoc" was Google sandboxed, it wouldn't effect the entire site. Google Sandbox is keyword related only. What does this mean? Let's say you made a site about ABC and put it on XYZ.com. You'll rank well for XYZ but you'll have to wait to achieve those dream results for ABC.

How do you avoid it? This is why SEO is a tricky thing and takes time. We can do all sorts of tricks to get to number one in Google but it will take time because there is no trick to avoid time in the sandbox. Really the only way to even remotely avoid it would be to target a non-competitive keyword. Why do this though? A lot of webmasters wouldn't. They wouldn't make money or get traffic.

I know you hear this all the time, or read it all over the web, but while you're in the sandbox just create content and build backlinks. This will help you get out of the sandbox quicker. Everyone goes in the sandbox and you are no exception. If you let your site sit, Google will ignore your site as well.

Hearing you need to continuously build content and backlinks does not compare to what you're about to hear. The length of time you'll spend i nthe sandbox will vary on the amount of content you generate and the backlinks you build, among other things, but typically, you'll spend about nine months in there.

To find out if you're in the sandbox, go to Google and put the following into the search form:
allinanchor:"keyword"

Oes Tsetnoc Update

Though this is my first SEO contest ever, I'm doing alright in the rankings. I was recently stuck in the 21st position but climbed to the 17th position after a little SEO work was done.

I've been asking people on forums for a little SEO advice and they've been telling me things I already and have already done. Still, good to know I've been doing the right things so far. Okay, maybe I've overdone it on the keywords, but I will be cutting back on that.

I wish I found out about this SEO contest a little sooner, maybe then I could have gotten a TLD instead of a Blogger domain. I'm not comlaining though. I love Blogger. Still, would have been much better for SERPs.

Well, I'll keep updating all of you. Thanks and keep checking back.

The Final Oes Tsetnoc Update

Sorry, no, I'm not talking about me. I'm referring to promojunkie and the last time they will check the ranks in the SERPs.

The final update will be at 12:00am GMT-7 12-15-2009.

Whoever's ranking first, second and third at the time of the final update WILL be determined the winners of the Oes Tsetnoc.

Less than a month left in the Oes Tsetnoc.

The contest is almost over. There is less than a month left in the Oes Tsetnoc.

If you're participating in the Oes Tsetnoc, make sure you pull out the big guns now because we're cutting it close.

Remember, pull out all the stops before December 15th!

Supersized Oes Tsetnoc

There's less than 100 contestants in the Oes Tsetnoc so it's not supersized but it should be.

Supersized has been taking control of the Oes Tsetnoc, knocking me out of the race everyday.

They were behind me one day and all of a sudden they're ahead of me by five spots.

I'm in position 20 and they're consistantly in the top 10.

I want to know their secret. ;)

Oes Tsetnoc dot name

Looks like oestsetnoc.name is paying Google to advertise their services for Oes Tsetnoc contestants.

It's a brilliant idea. A lot of people are participating and eager to win. I hate that I didn't think of it myself.

Anyway, they're offering free links for Oes Tsetnoc contestants on their site. They advertised via Google AdWords.

Go see for yourself.

Another Oes Tsetnoc?

So the people that started this Oes Tsetnoc are thinking of starting another Oes Tsetnoc but with an affiliate site of theirs and the contestants can make money off of the site that they use depending on whether or not they make sales.

What do you all think of that? I would much rather have another regular Oes Tsetnoc. Maybe Oes Tsetnoc 2.

How time flies when you're having fun in the Oes Tsetnoc

It seems like the Oes Tsetnoc just started last week or something, but the Oes Tsetnoc is ending next month.

The end date is coming closer and closer.

I've been climbing the results page but it doesn't look good for me. I'm stuck in the 15th slot.

Anyone want to give me a link? ;)

Optimizing Blogger for The Oes Tsetnoc

I wish there was more I could do to optimize this blog for the Oes Tsetnoc.

I've done everything that I can do with blogger though. It's not as flexible as I hoped it would be.

I'm still doing pretty well but honestly, I don't think I'll be winning the Oes Tsetnoc with a blogspot.com domain.

My Oes Tsetnoc Strategies

Whether I win or lose the Oes Tsetnoc, I will be sharing with all of you how I got to the spot I ended in.
You can learn either way.

I hope to at least place in the top ten of the Oes Tsetnoc if I don't win.

I'm getting closer each day.

I climbed like ten spots in a day. I climbed one more spot about ten minutes ago, but fell back one because I was in the middle of updating my Oes Tsetnoc blog when I checked the results.

I WILL win the Oes Tsetnoc

I'm going to be winning the Oes Tsetnoc.

I know that I haven't been doing too well in the search rankings for "Oes Tsetnoc" but I've been doing better and I am more determined to win this than any of the other contestants.

If you want to help me out, please give me a link on your site.

Oes Tsetnoc sites getting hacked!

If you read this blog you probably saw me mention the number one site in the Oes Tsetnoc getting hacked.

Well, I just read that the third site in the Oes Tsetnoc also got hacked.

Honestly, I'm not worried about this blog getting hacked.

We're hosted by Google and I'm sure they have a lot of security measures in place.

Just in case though, I'll keep an eye out.

Broken English - Oes Tsetnoc

Why is Google increasing the search engine ranks of Oes Tsetnoc sites that are all in broken English?

I can barely get through a sentence without getting pissed off.

It's the way they word things, the way they spell things; everything.

I don't see how Google can award that kind of crap.

Stupid Oes Tsetnoc Tactic

One of the people leading in the Oes Tsetnoc came up with a really stupid strategy.

I was browsing his site and he mentioned how he is not planning on link building. If you do this, how exactly do you plan on getting your site out there?

More exposure equals more visitors, which will lead to an increase in SERPs.

This is good for me to know though.

Can't wait to get my Oes Tsetnoc links and get ahead of this clown.

oestsetnoc.com hacked!

The number one site in the oes tsetnoc, oestsetnoc dot com, was hacked a few nights ago.

Fortunately for them, the site was recovered in one piece. Unfortunately for the rest of us, we still need to try and beat him in the oes tsetnoc.
